Concept Design for the restoration and modernisation of Beta III, the oldest remaining London fireboat, built 1926.

The proposal will retain the existing hull of the boat and add an additional structure on top of the upper deck to include a kitchen and living area. The engine and many of the boat’s surviving historical features shall be retained and restored to their former glory. The new structure will complement the original design, sharing many of the same materials and values whilst creating a new modern and striking identity.
