WHOLE-HOUSE TRANSFORMATIONS

Is Your Project Right for Us?

Neil Dusheiko Architects is a small London studio dedicated solely to houses. We work with homeowners who value architecture and want to transform an existing property with care, imagination and technical depth.

This page outlines the projects, budgets and ways of working that are generally best suited to our studio.

The Projects We Are Best Suited To

Our work is particularly suited to substantial residential projects where architecture, interiors, planning, material detail and long-term use need to be considered together.

These often include:
01 Whole-house transformations
02 High-end residential renovations and refurbishments
03 Contemporary extensions to existing houses
04 Period, listed and conservation area homes
05 Projects involving complex planning or sensitive sites
06 Interior architecture as part of a wider residential commission
07 New homes with a strong architectural brief

You can explore examples of this work across our residential architecture projects, including transformations shaped by light, material, landscape and the character of the original building.

Construction Budget

Most of our projects have an anticipated construction budget of at least £500,000 + VAT, excluding professional fees and other project costs.

This reflects the scale and depth of work the studio is structured to undertake. Our projects often require architectural design, interior coordination, planning strategy, bespoke detailing and sustained involvement through construction.

Further context is available in our project budget guidance.

Design Ambition

A project is likely to be a strong fit when the ambition extends beyond gaining additional space. We work best with clients who want to explore how their house could support daily life more generously through changes to light, movement, atmosphere, material and connection with the garden.

There is no predetermined house style. The design grows from the existing building, its setting and the people who will live there.

A Collaborative Process

Our process is thoughtful, detailed and collaborative. It begins with listening: understanding how you live, what the house currently lacks and what you hope the project will make possible.

The process works best when clients are comfortable exploring ideas, reviewing options and making considered decisions as the design develops. We bring creative direction and technical experience, while the project is shaped through open conversation and a shared commitment to quality.

When We May Not Be the Right Studio

We are unlikely to be the best fit for small standalone alterations, planning drawings without a wider architectural commission, highly standardised solutions or projects where the main priority is achieving the lowest possible professional or construction cost. Clear expectations at the outset help both the client and studio decide whether the relationship, scope and ambition are aligned.

Projects Outside the Usual Criteria

Occasionally, a project below the usual construction budget may still have particular architectural depth. This could include a smaller intervention to a listed building, a sensitive conservation area home, a complex site or an early-stage commission requiring careful strategic thinking.

Where a project sits close to the threshold, the wider context, challenge and design potential will help us understand whether it is suitable for the studio.
